R.I.P Captain Phil Harris of the TV show Deadliest Catch on Discovery Channel dead at the age of 53

Phil Harris, the fishing boat captain whose adventures off the Alaska coast were captured on the television show "Deadliest Catch", has died, the Discovery Channel said Tuesday night. He was 53.
Harris suffered what his family described as a massive stroke on Jan. 29 while the fishing vessel he captained, Cornelia Marie, was in port at St. Paul Island, Alaska. The fisherman was flown to Anchorage for surgery.
The reality show, which has filmed five seasons, has been one of the Discovery Channel's most popular and depicts the crab fishing industry in the dangerous waters off Alaska.

Apple iPad tablet unveiled today by Steve Jobs 1/27/10

The iPad has a 9.7-inch touch screen. It is a half-inch thick, weighs 1.5 pounds and comes with 16, 32 or 64 gigabytes of flash memory storage. The device comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless technology, but no mention was immediately made of a data connection through a wireless carrier. Jobs said the battery lasts for 10 hours, and that the device can sit for a month on standby without needing a charge.

Tattoo regulation in California?

When you get your hair cut or your nails done in California, you know that your stylist or manicurist has attended school, received a license and is maintaining the businesses up to legally mandated standards.
You can even check the records online.
But if you decide to get a tattoo or body piercing, you'd have no such reassurance, because California doesn't regulate body art practitioners.

Artie Lange's Suicide attempt

After speculation surrounding his recent hospitalization, it's been reported that Artie Lange attempted suicide.
Artie's mom called 911 on Saturday morning as she found the blood-drenched comedian in his Hoboken apartment. She came by his place to deliver food and discovered that her son had stabbed himself. Lange suffered six "hesitation wounds" and three deep plunges, but surgeons managed to save him despite the vast amount of blood.

Redemption stories are the best kinds of stories. If someone's failed, lost their way or made more mistakes than we deem acceptable, I always find myself on that guy's side.
I'm not there supporting what they've done or making excuses for them, but hoping that they'll find a way to be better. Hoping that they'll learn from their mistakes, grow and become the person they can be. In one way or another, I think we're all striving for that.
That's what Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry was doing when he lost his life this morning after falling out of a truck reportedly driven by his fiancee.

We know the guy had made mistakes, getting arrested multiple times and being suspended for half of the 2007 season, but those aren't important today. That was Henry's past. By all accounts, his future was better and brighter, because he had worked his tail off to make it that way. Changing your life is not easy.
Henry was doing it, though. In the preseason, his quarterback, Carson Palmer(notes), had raved about Henry's work ethic and his ability. According to Palmer, Henry had a great offseason and had "really turned his life around." Unfortunately, his season was cut short by injury when he broke his forearm against the Ravens on November 8. Towards the end of 2008's "Iron Man," James "Rhodey" Rhodes (played by Terrence Howard) looked at the early silver version of Tony Stark's high-tech armor and said to himself, "Next time, baby."
That "next time" is coming on May 7, when "Iron Man 2" hits theaters. And Rhodey will get his wish, donning the heavily-armored metallic suit that turns him into War Machine, a character that has been a part of the "Iron Man" comic books for 30 years. But getting superpowers isn't the only change for the character.

Paying for Wi-Fi stings, even at 30,000 feet in the air. Luckily, we may not be paying for much longer.
